I am a Korean American artist and educator living in Brooklyn, NY. Since 2012, my work has emerged from a single imaginary construct — a system for transforming the unknown.
I make art for those navigating hybrid realities. The construct is one giant aquarium holding the grid of x, y, and z: x ranges from gel to flow, y from void to vaporizing, and z is a spectrum of colors. A palm tree grows inside, and dragonflies wait in their nymph state until the portal releases them — the unknown enters as an egg and emerges as a dragonfly. Paintings, collages, comics, and now hats: all designs are born from this world.
